Measurement Guidelines for Inside Mount Plantation Shutters

Traditional window coverings and plantation shutters cover your window with wood or faux wood panels. These window coverings help insulate your windows and offer enduring value.

Inside mount plantation shutters are put inside the window frame or casing; they offer a streamlined, refined appearance that can highlight the size and moldings of your windows. The methods below should be followed if you're interested in measuring for inside-mount plantation shutters.

By measuring the window's diagonal points, you may determine whether the window is square. A window application for an outside mount is advised if the window is out of square by more than 1/4 to 1/2 inch.

The window frame's depth should be measured. This measurement will help you confirm that the window recess has the necessary depth for an inside mount. The size of each window opening should be measured. Take note of the width of the window opening at the top, center, and bottom. Mark the measurement that is the narrowest out of the three; this is the width of your window that you should enter.

Take three measurements of the window opening's height: the left, the center, and the right. Mark the measurement that is the shortest; this is the height of your window that you should enter.

A dividing rail is necessary if the opening measures 60 inches or more in height. For interior mounting, measure from the window's bottom to the spot where the divider rail's Centre will be. Note that this measurement will be within 1.5 inches of where the dividing rail will be placed. For some shutters, the divider rail will be put in the middle automatically.

Don't conflate the measures of width and height. Always label them in the width-by-height format (W x H).
